GAMES OF CHANCE [ top ]

Non Profit Organizations may apply for a license to run Games of Chance.

Procedure:

    • Obtain an application (triplicate) for a Games of Chance identification number from the Cheektowaga Town Clerk's Office, file with New York State Racing & Wagering Board, 1 Watervilet Avenue Extension, Suite 2, Albany, New York 12206-1668
    • When approved by the State, obtain an application for Games of Chance License from the Cheektowaga Town Clerk's Office. Fill out in triplicate, and return to Town Clerk with a license fee of $25.00 per occasion. (Check must be drawn on Games of Chance Account).
    • After approval from the Cheektowaga Police Department, the license will be issued and forwarded to the organization.
    • A financial statement must be filed with the Town Clerk within 5 days of the Games Chance occasion (Las Vegas Nite). In the case of Bell jar, the financial statement is filed quarterly with the NYS Racing & Wagering Board, and the Raffles financial statement is due by the 31st of January of the following year. A copy is also forwarded to the New York State Racing and Wagering Board.
    • Fees due upon filing of the financial statement:
      -Las Vegas Nites: 5% of net proceeds
      -Bell Jars: 2% of net proceeds
      -Raffles: 2% of net proceeds if profit exceeds $30,000. A license application must be submitted and a license fee of $25.00 must be paid.

SOLICITORS PERMITS [ top ]

Any person soliciting or peddling goods or services in the Town of Cheektowaga must obtain a permit. The application for such must be completed in person, in the Town Clerk's Office, and applicant must provide picture identification.

The license is for a 6-month period, and costs $100, per person. It is renewable at the same rate for another 6-month period, and the fee is not prorated for fractional periods.

There is also a Police Record Investigation required of each solicitor/peddler which carries a fee of $10.00 paid to the Cheektowaga Police Department at the time of the records check. The fee is processed after the application is completed in the Town Clerk's Office.

The application procedure takes a minimum of 24 hours.
