Reverse 911 System

The Town of Cheektowaga operates a reverse 911 system to notify residents in the case of an emergency. The reverse 911 system targets telephone numbers in a specific geographic area in town, whether thousands of residences or those on only one or two streets.

The system stores telephone numbers and allows dispatchers to pinpoint specific locations. A recording is broadcast to the affected area giving instructions on what to do. Reverse 911 is used when the authorities determine that a substantial risk exists. It could be triggered by severe weather, terrorist attack, to alert people of missing children or other serious issues in their neighborhood.

Residents should listen carefully to the instructions given during the call. Their cooperation with authorities is important to minimize the impact of any emergency.

Since many residents now use a cellular phone as their primary phone, we are offering the option of having the system call that phone in an emergency. All we need is some information:

If you want us to update our system with a new number, please provide it below. ONLY DO THIS IF YOU WANT TO SET A CELLULAR NUMBER OR AN ALTERNATE T NUMBER:
