New POs Start Field Training
Nine of Cheektowaga's newest police officers have begun the field training program.
All nine will take part in the 14-week FTO Program, which partners each with a veteran Cheektowaga police officer. New officers will learn departmental procedures, police officer safety techniques and more.
Police Hire New Officers Due to recent retirements, the Cheektowaga Police Department has hired
two new officers to fill vacant positions.
"It is extremely important that we maintain manpower levels at a point where we can continue to utilizing crime prevention strategies, and respond to quality of life issues," said Capt. John Glascott.
"We do not want to get caught in the trap of just responding to call for service and being unable to stop events from occurring. While we have not seen huge increases in the numbers of calls or
crimes, we are seeing a tendency for the crimes that occur to be more severe and violent.
The following individuals were hired at the Cheektowaga
Town Board Meeting on January 26, 2006. They will start
at the academy on January 28, 2006.
